The History of Covenant Church
Covenant Church was established in May of 1984 when a group of believers gathered with a desire to establish a church that would reach generations.
They desired a Methodist church that held to Biblical truth from a Wesley-Arminian perspective. We are a church that is not focused on growing an institution, but growing the Body of Christ. We established a missions committee and began supporting missionaries even before we had our own building.
Over the years, we have sent out over 13 individuals to full time international missions and give 4% of our general fund to missions on top of faith promises pledges. We have sent out pastors and teachers as well over our existence.
We have a vibrant food pantry started in those early years that help to feed hundreds of individuals every month. We have raised up leaders in college ministries who are active through Intervarsity Christian fellowship. In 1990, we began Covenant Day Care which quickly became Covenant Christian School. Our vision has always been to "Feed My Lambs" as we seek to not only save souls but make full-fledged disciples in each age and stage of life. We have ministered to thousands of students and families and continue to do so.
We have planted over five churches with a vision to reach our community through Christ. We have a heart to partner and support other Bible believing churches whether they are a part of our denomination or church tradition or not. We are focused on building Christ's kingdom.
Our early denomination affiliation was through the Evangelical Methodist Church, and for a time, our founding pastor was the General Superintendent of that denomination. In the fall of 2023, Covenant joined the Global Methodist Church as their vision for growing the Body of Christ matched with our own.
The Global Methodist Church enabled us to have the structure and covering to create proper accountability while allowing our local church to be led by the laity. It has been established with a vision for equal unity and participation of believers around the globe and matches our local church vision of utilizing what God has entrusted to us to completing the Great Commission.
Our vision remains the same: We exist so the Gospel may be preached, disciples made, and the love of Jesus may bring eternal change in our region and around the world!
